Maria Cross here. You haven’t heard from me in quite a while, but I’m back writing, and I’m writing on Substack.
Why this, why now
This time, it’s all about you. The symptoms you experience, the health problems you encounter, and attempt to tackle through diet and nutrition.
Perhaps you’ve had some success; perhaps you haven’t. Perhaps you’re trying to figure out why you still have persistent brain fog, or why your gut hurts so much. Or why you just can’t shift that weight. You may have an intuitive understanding that diet is in some way part of the problem, but the link between symptom and nutrition remains elusive.
After nearly thirty years as a nutritionist, I’ve accumulated a lot of experience in dealing with the everyday symptoms familiar to so many people who aren’t seriously ill, but aren’t seriously healthy, either. Symptoms can be debilitating enough to make you feel, at times, quite wretched. But on you soldier, bravely.
I sometimes think of my clients as the walking wounded. More often than not, they look fine enough. Their juggling skills are heroic, but hardy as they appear, inside they are strugging with exhaustion, stress, anxiety, gut problems…. it’s a long list.
Nutritional therapy can be extraordinarily effective. It requires effort, and change, but the pay-off is empowering, and well worth it.
Nutrition is not the answer to every ailment, because nothing in life is ever that simple. But it is the cornerstone of good health, and should always be the starting point on the road to wellness.
With my newsletters, I aim to help you identify the underlying dietary origins of your particular symptoms, and work from there. I will cover a wide range of subjects, under these broad headlines. (All subject to change of course.)

I’ll be posting newsletters at least once a week. I welcome suggestions, though can’t give personalised advice. I’ll be discussing what works with my clients.
