Well next Christmas I'm coming round for a slice of fridge cake. That sounds amazing! Having spent most of my life on the "Standard American Diet", carbohydrate-based and drenched in endless liters of sodas laced with high fructose corn syrup, I am continually amazed to not only be alive at 76, but also healthy. The human body, at least in my case, has remarkable powers of restoration if the proper fuel is provided. Yesterday the return to a meal of broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, and water chestnuts, stir-fried in olive oil and butter, was a welcome change. All the cookies (biscuits to those who speak proper English) are gone. None went to waste, but they did go to waist.

Happy 2024 Jim and keep up the Standard Human Diet that is obviously working for you (as it does all humans). Fridge cake next year!

I know exactly what you mean. My go to is wine trifle. To my surprise though, after a week of eating whatever I felt like, I didn't gain any weight. I did maintain IF though. Must be my saving grace.

It probably was! You can get away with quite a lot with IF, in terms of weight gain.
